Happy New Year Guys, Hey don't judge me, Close your eyes and pretend like it January jare, whats ya own sef. So I am back *Standing Ovation* No? and better i guess. It was an awesome and in fact weird 2015 and i''m unhappy to say i gained a few of those miserable pound back *insert sad face* I don't want to say it wasn't my fault because really, I was the one making the food choices and shoving them down my throat so yes it is my fault! and sadly i was aware every step of the way as i was putting on those miserable pounds. You know for we food lovers, the best part of the year is always and always the end of the year: there is Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year, all the parties, all the food, the glorious, amazing, tasty, beautiful food! *sigh* memories. And also over here in the states, winter is my best time of the year by the way but it also means less motivation to go out there and sweat it out after all that summer barbecues. So that pretty much sums up the story of how i got to this point. This point right here.
I put back on about 10 more pounds of beautiful fat, and i almost fainted when i got on that scale. I could actually hear the sarcastic laugh from the scale and then i started thinking about my many sins. I started reflecting and i realized this is the heaviest i have ever bee in in my life and i haven't even had kids yet, that reality was enough to wake a sister up! So people, i am back on my paleo diet grind and i have a focus and a timeline. Feel free to join me and biko pray for me ehn that i don't fall of the damn wagon again.
I am now at a very annoying and hefty 292 pounds. Yes i said it 292!!! scary right? And then there's those people who keep saying "Vivian, you are losing weight o" But ehn, when you know you just know. Its hard to deceive yourself, I just smile and say "You think so? I'm not tho" and then the conversation goes on and on about weight loss. I started my reset officially on the 3rd of March after a month of procrastination and face stuffing with food and i'm happy to say its been a week and i feel Amazing!!! Yes, i really do, I know i'm making progress but only the scale can confirm it, i'll weigh myself in a week or so. I bought a waist trainer too to aid in the process and i do fitness blender workouts on you tube for now. Will eventually have to add some gym cardio by the end of the month and that's pretty much my routine for now and i guess i'm on the right track.
Now lets talk about food that's what we're here for anyways. So my diet routine is more of a lifestyle choice to 'hep masef'. Its the paleo diet life that i'm adopting mainly because i have used it before and its pretty straight forward and it worked wonders but i tweak mine just a teeny bit because i'm Nigerian and a very picky eater and also because i can. I am not really a breakfast person but in order to lose weight I have to eat and not starve so my body doesn't protest (more about that in another post). I'm just going to briefly state what i eat then probably in later posts do like a table with choices. Mornings are for Green Tea and an Apple if i'm not too hungry, or 2 scrambled eggs if i'm very hungry and Green tea, At about noon, i grab a snack which is usually, a handful peanuts/groundnuts and a handful of granola bits or a handful of plain plantain chips and raisins. I always drink water like a fish, that's standard, then for lunch i have a cup of quinoa and Kale with some stew and baked chicken thigh for a heavy lunch, or just a piece chicken thigh and stew for a light lunch, then i snack again on an apple or green tea. For dinner i love spinach with stew and chicken thigh, then if before bed time i'm still feeling peckish, a fruit comes in handy, preferably an Apple. I love Apples, i never get tired of eating apples, but to change it up sometimes, i eat a handful of grapes or an orange. I'm still working on adding more paleo friendly varieties to my menu but for now this just works.
So there we have it, what i have been doing for the past week and a half, my goal is to lose like 60 pounds by my birthday 25th July. Yes i'm a Leo! Strong, Brave, Loyal, Courageous Leo and i'm thinking of giving myself that as a birthday gift marking a milestone. I will keep everyone in the loop on how its going, I'm going to shed more light on Paleo Diet in my Next Post.
Have a wonderful Week ahead!
