First of all..INTRODUCTION!!!

This is officially my first blog post *applause*?No? *standing ovation*? No? Oh well, I'll settle for the silence then...My name is Vivian and i am currently what society calls a "Plus size girl" US size 16, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 24 years old and i have a weight problem as you will find out later.. I have actually had this problem for as long as i can remember. I remember in Secondary school I'd watch my best friend (Morenike) prance around and actually wish i could be like her. I am not saying being however you are is bad, its just that in the mind of a 12 year old girl, living in Lagos, accompanied with shouts of "Orobo", " Biggy" from classmates, people in the marketplace, people in your neighbourhood, some relatives and all that, you start to feel after a while that you have been cursed forever and you start to wish you were not the way you are. Some would say its Low self esteem, but i personally feel its totally normal for a teenager, moving on.

Lets go back in time for a bit, It all started one beautiful day in July, specifically on the 25th morning in July a healthy, beautiful 10 pound baby girl was brought into the world by an amazing woman and she was named Vivian :). The amazing woman could not walk on her own for about 2 days due to the size of that baby and everybody in the hospital "ooh-ed" and "aah-ed" at such a "big" bundle of Joy.
Fast forward to 9 years after that when the healthy little girl first started Secondary School, she was the biggest and tallest in her class but never realized there was a name for that until a classmate of her described her as "an overgrown baby" that was when she realized what she was or rather what people called her.

Again fast forward to a couple of years after that, college, finally! There she met all sorts of People from different parts of the country and dare i say, the world. Tall, Not so Tall a.k.a Short, Slim, Not so slim or Fat, Average or Normal (side note: what is normal anyways?, who decides what normal is? Topic for another day) and she thought to herself, "I just might blend in here". She became active in basketball and judo but still maintained her normal eating habits, the weight kept dropping off and coming back on, and every of her friend that knew her, knew she always obsessed about her weight.

And the one beautiful day, on January 11th 2015, an amazing Aunt of hers first mentioned " The Paleo Diet"(okay I'm getting tired of this third person thing, back to reality).

I first heard about Paleo Diet on the 11th of January 2015 from an Amazing Aunt of mine and her Super cool Husband, and as usual, i went online and began my research on it. I became enlightened but as is normal with Nigerians very skeptical but i decided to start the diet with my aunt mainly because i had tried mostly everything, i just needed to lose weight. I was weighing a hefty 286 pounds after the merriment that is associated with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year. We started the Paleo Life on the 12th of January and i was very dedicated to it without any form of exercise, by the 7th of February, i was down to 268 pounds. I went on the scale to weigh-in and i could not believe my eyes,i never hexperrect it, i went back on the scale five more times and i still saw the same result, i had gone down one dress size, it was like a dream come true. I became truly ecstatic and it all went downhill from there, i gradually went back to my regular eating habits and in two months i gained it all back beautifully. Lol.

As of 9th June 2015, i was still 285 pounds, still wearing a size 16, still 6 feet tall, and still obese. I restarted my Paleo way of Life and as at today i am 279 pounds, 7 pounds lighter. All i did was eat a balanced meal, with the right combination of food, workout, drinking water and  lots of sleep. And so a friend of mine (Chinwe) said, why don't you blog about it, that way you would be able to stay accountable and in the process, help other people who struggle with weight loss but don't want to resort to harmful means to lose the weight and that's how PALEOCHOPS was born.

I hope i did not bore you with this long story but i just felt i should put this out there. Look out for my next post where i discuss what Paleo diet is and how we can continue this journey to wellness together...xoxo
